I've been missing Android Auto since I've switched from the Bolt to the Equinox, mostly because I drive a lot and I use Teams for work calls. I have a phone mount that I was getting by with but decided to try a cheap bluetooth tablet that has AA/CarPlay integrated into it. Works out so much better than I thought and the audio can come through the car speakers which is exactly what I wanted. Finally have the AA integration that I wanted and I can even mirror my phone for video if I decide I want that out while charging also. There is some parts of the screen that get blocked a little and for shorter drivers it might be too much but I can see everything if I move my head around if needed.

I do the same but with the AA Teams app you have messaging and other features that you can use. I also have to use the tiny mute option on my phone if I want to keep Waze on my main navigation screen. I spend around 3 hours a day in my car so having message notifications really help.

Notifications come in the same way your texts do so it will read them to you when you touch the screen. The car wasn't giving me the Teams notifications (meetings starting, DMs etc) and now I can get the same any car that has Android Auto has. It's no more distracting than a car that has the AA/CarPlay option.

The way I have it mounted I can slide it off the dock and store in the arm rest storage area. I can also swap it for my phone mount if I want to put the phone back. Not sure if I'll keep it there permanently or just when I know I'll be having meetings in the car.
