.... and that's why I was thinking while looking at the options list "Self, we probably don't need 21 inch wheels..." Those same tires are about US$200 each in 19-inch size.
Just bought CrossClimate2 for my Santa Fe (18"). They were 300 each. Yes, you can get garbage Chinese ones for $200 on 18", but anything decent 19" will probably be $280+ (Canadian). The problem with 19", is that it's a pretty rare size... So, not a lot of competition. You know what... I'm gonna take a look and see the difference.

It could be because the tire size is odd, or that the way they reinforce the sidewall is more complicated, or just simply they think bigger rims means people are willing to spend more money.
Whatever it is, it doesn't justify double the price. I could see 20%, 30%, maybe even 50% upcharge... But 90%-100%?! That's kind of crazy.

If I will get the 2LT or 3LT, I'm gonna sell the rim and tire package, and get me a 17" or 18" with tall sidewalls. Not only cheaper, but also better comfort. I'm not one of the people who likes hard cornering or sporty driving... So I wouldn't see the difference in handling. On the other hand, I'm in Quebec, so taller sidewalls can definitely help with all the potholes and uneven roads.

The 2LT, at least according to the option sheet float around a few months ago, come with the same 19" wheels that the 1LT has. We don't know what tires will come with those, but there are 19" RX tires, both of which have higher sidewalls than the 21"

Well, if it's really gonna be 19", I'll keep them. But anything over that I'll sell and get a 17" or 18".

I'm not doing 2 sets. The CrossClimate2 make that possible. They are better than a mid range winter tires at winter and as good as a mid range summer tires at summer. They cost 1.5X the cost of a midrange winter tire... So I think it's definitely worth it.
