A German manufactured rebranded International Harvester? Yeah, so it's the so called new global economy but... Maybe I just too damn old but this is not right!

From the article it says VW will manufacture the Scout in the US, not Germany. Probably the IRA played a role in that decision. If so, good for us. More manufacturing jobs in the US.

Or are you referring to VW buying a brand that used to be owned by Harvester, Chip?

Yeah, that's it. I guess if there was a name that stood in my mind for "past" US industrial might it was IH. To see the name rehabbed by a foreign car company just does not sit well with me. The same was true for me when Ford bought & owned Jaguar / Land Rover. Sir William and Mr. Walmsley must have turned in their graves.

I'm ok with it as long as the parent company leaves it alone and follows its tradition. What the Chinese have done to MG and Rover (now Rowe, and not to be confused with Range Rover) is disturbing. None of their models are built or designed in the UK anymore and their current design has nothing to do with the original MG. Yes, there will be a roadster but nothing "English" about it.
