The sweep of driver’s side windshield wiper ends about 4 inches away from the very substantial A pillar. In inclement weather, this creates a major blind spot. Can the sweep of the windshield be extended closer to the A pillar?

I had it "aligned" at a dealer as described in the linked thread TSB. However, it is still quite a bit from the edge. The TSB document states that ~2 inches (50mm) is the correct spacing. I need to measure it to see if mine swings all the way. What I am not sure of is whether the 2 inches is measured from the edge of the window pane or from the black-painted area on the perimeter of the window.
But, if yours is really 4 inches from the black painted line, then that is way too wide of space than mine was.
