Fisker is already ramping up production in Austria for their upcoming Ocean model. A US plant will be built with Magna Steyra in the near future too. More importantly, Fisker will offer a smaller second model, PEAR, with Foxxcon (they currently make some Apple products) in Ohio in 2024. This will be about the same time the Chevy Equinox will have all trims in production. What's also interesting is that Fisker's second model will have a similar base price of $30,000. Since the PEAR is made in the US it should also satisfy the new EV tax/rebate incentives.

The Fisker Pear is going to be smaller. The Ocean is more comparable to the Equinox. I’d guess the Pear is the size of the Bolt EV.

The Bolt is also a good size for me. I didn't consider one because of the lack of AWD living in the NE.

It's cool to see Fisker get into the EV game, the designs for the Pear and Ocean are pretty cool. But given Henrik Fisker's track record with his car companies I'm going to watch from afar and see what happens.

If Magna and Foxcomm were not partners, I would have doubts too.

if the press releases hold true that will put the Pear between Equinox Ev and the Bolts. I cant confirm the dual motor though (my preference).

I’ll also watch from afar on this one. My concern is around Fisker’s long term viability. I wouldn’t want an orphan after a couple of years.

Remember GM was brought back to life with taxpayer help. I don't think they will get another bailout if things fall flat.
Fisker lost out on a lot of cars during hurricane Sandy or Katrina which halted everything for them. With the backing of Foxconn and Magna, I don't see any problems this time around.

GM unions were saved by the government, not GM. GM would have freed itself of all of those ridiculous union contracts if they went through a proper bankruptcy and would have emerged as a much stronger corporation. Let the marketplace pick the winners and the losers. It was all about votes.

Fisker's track record does not inspire confidence in me. But it's good to have competition!

Post-sale maintenance, support (especially battery related) would be a worry for me. Of course if you switch cars every 2-3 years these are likely not something on your radar.

GM's support for my Volt and Bolt have been very good. Something on the scale of the Bolt battery recall might sink a company like Fisker.

The fact that Magna & Foxconn are involved in ensuring quality measures is a big plus. Plus they will bring factories to the US. They are all partnered with Fisker. Yes, I know about Fisker Karma, but that was really a supply chain issue involving a flood that lead to bankruptcy. GM also ran into bad financial times and needed government support. In any case, I will inspect both in person and wait for the reviews. I just wish they will just give GM their tax credit allowance for customers because Blazer EV SS and Eq RS2 will go on sale soon.

GM, Chrysler and Ford. Ford took their billions as a loan. I doubt we will see a repeat of that, especially not for Fisker, Rivian, etc.

I don't want to fork out $15K for a new battery in 10-12 years, I want to be able to replace one bad module for $1000-$1500.

Remember, a person driving the same ICE vehicle for 15 years has a smaller carbon footprint than a person who buys a new EV every 3 years. So the BEST thing we can do is buy EVs and keep them for as long as viably possible.

If the battery cost more than half the car, that car would end up in the scarpers the minute the battery is bad.

Well, most of the world isn't "half of Hollywood". These people also have about 8000 clothing items and 5000 accessories to go with them.

My problem is with people thinking they're "green" when they have 3 cars and buy a new one every 1-3 years. The American culture tries to tell you "buy this instead of that, and you're green", while the actual truth it "don't buy that if you can easily live without it".

All while making appliances, cars, phones, and all electronics almost completely irreparable.

Yup, the design of the Ultium platform to enable battery brick replacement is key for me. I don't want to scrap a car in 20+ years because some of the battery bricks need replacing. GM seems to be the only one who is addressing this.
