Thank you Steverino

My prediction: People listening to podcasts, Spotify and XM over wind and tire noise while passing semi trucks will be happy with the stock system, and people with thumb drives full of 320bit FLACs plugged into their own DAC boxes and the AUX port listening in their garage with the door closed are going to complain that it's a screeching disaster and physically painful to listen to.

I'm going from an ICE Equinox Premier with the premium sound - it really thumps. Our second vehicle is an ICE Equinox LT with the base radio and it is not very good. I test drove an Equinox EV and the sound seemed fine. Not as awesome as the premium sound but better than the base radio in our LT. Not a deal breaker for me by any means.

I just did another Equinox EV test, sitting in the car playing with all the controls. The audio system allows Equalizer adjustments for Bass, Midrange, Treble. There's also a Fade/Balance spatial control for left right front back. There's a volume control knob on the dash as well as volume control on the steering wheel left rear by the tab that stick up. In addition, there's "Hey Google" voice control. Lot's of option based on your preference.

For a non-purist, I'm happy with the sound quality and control. Plus the car is quiet. Maybe not Cadillac quiet, but quiet.

If it's like the Lyriq the notification sounds may be a little to loud and you'd have to use Google Assistant to call up a hidden Audio menu to change the notification sound settings to adjust volume and the audio que.

That's one thing i haven't looked into yet, are there 'upgraded' sound options? my 19 diesel eq premier bose system i think sounds excellent, i'd hate to take a step back

Tried out the sound system today - was pleasantly surprised. Wish I had seen your post about the fade/balance for front-rear. Maxed up the Bass and treble and set the midrange at 60%. Only had local FM radio to choose from as the car was in the showroom and satellite was choppy. Local station played Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen and it sounded very good at 50% volume. No complaints about the speakers. Loudness (amp) will be adequate. Will just need to figure out a high fidelity source for the tracks.

Just upgraded my sound system, Sony ES components upfront, Sony ES two-way speakers for the rear, 10" JL Audio sub in a custom enclosure build for the lower storage area in the back. All powered by an AudioControl DSP and Focal six-channel amp. The amp and DSP fit nicely in the area where supposedly the portable charger is supposed to fit. The only glitch was a connector was loose and messed with the rear power windows controls from the driver's seat and the rear driver's side door is ajar warning light stayed on. My dealer found the problem and fixed it, no charge. We think the connector was already loose from the factory and during the install the contact was broken. My installer could not fond the problem because the connector never came apart. Long story short, don't be afraid to upgrade your sound system. Just leave it to the experts and you won't regret it.

The Focal sub is a place holder until my JL sub arrives.

If I wanted to do a cost effective speaker upgrade, what would you recommend? Don't need a subwoofer, just speakers. What brand/size? I had JBLs before, which I liked, but I'm sure there are others that maybe be better.

Infinity's, under $200 each for the components and rear two-ways. Honestly, an amp and DSP is needed to get the most out of upgraded speakers.

I tend not to do any modifications to any of the warrantied systems as long as that system is still covered. It’s less of a fight to get that system repaired under warranty if it has not been modified in any way.

Ten days with the 2RS AWD launch edition.
The speakers are not awful but it is a downgrade from my Bolt EUV Bose. I purchased Focal components from Crutchfield (front ISU690 plus tweeters and rear ICU165 two way). They will arrive next week.
I already tested door panel removal, no problem.
Installing the tweeters is another level. The instructions I got from Crutchfield are for Blazer EV which I assumed would be the closest. No installation YouTube videos.
Questions:
1. Did anyone try it already and has advice?
2. Can I disconnect the tweeters at the door?
Thanks in advance. I may be the first to post a video 😃

I would love to consider replacing mine in the future, but I do worry it'll void the warranty for sound system related things. I have B2B warranty up to 125,000 miles. I'll have to check on this!

I had my installed. Sony ES all around with a JL sub, Focal amp. and AudioControl DSP.
