Equinox Reservation Timing and Place

Does any know when and how reservations will be handled? I have heard that some dealers are keeping a list of people that are willing to put down a reservation fee. It is a dealer list not a GM corporate list. Will GM be accepting reservations via their website or will buyers be directed to dealers sometime in the future. As you are probably aware, buyers were able to reserve Blazers on the Chevrolet website until they stopped taking reservations. I am hoping that the Equinox will be handled similarly, but when??

I don’t think anyone knows for sure if GM will eventually accept reservations like the Blazer, or just wait until you can place an order. I also don’t think anyone knows for sure when that will be.

I have paid a down payment to be put on the dealer’s allocation list.

Yes, the deposit is more than the $100, but you can get on the allocation list much earlier. I have done this for both the blazer and the equinox ev.
My deposit was a $100. I am sure it varies from dealer location to location. When I was leaving a deposit for an Ioniq 5, dealers varied from $200 to $1000 as a deposit. I paid $500.

Can confirm this! I've put $100 (CAD) with 3 different dealers in my area (hedging).

Really? Thought they weren't taking any orders until the Spring.....

Technically they aren’t deposits but reserving a spot on the dealerships waitlist. I too put $100 to get on their waitlist. Once the books open the dealership will give priorities to those on their waitlist.

Good to know....thanks.
Has anyone in the US been able to put a deposit with a dealer? From the comments I have seen, it might only be Canada.

I just got an email notice from my Chevy dealer about reserving a Blazer EV, but not an Equinox EV. I'll ask them when I have my Volt in for it's 5 year cooling and brake fluid service in a couple of weeks.

I got an email from my dealer about buying a new car. I said I was interested in the Equinox EV. She replied they had no details on that and she did not offer a deposit as an option (I did not ask either). That tells me it's not a standard thing my dealer does.

The "take money for a spot on a waitlist" seems like an accounting pain for little to no actual benefit to the dealership. Unless they keep the $100 no matter what....

Logically, you are correct. But I couldn't refuse doing that because I knew it's going to be hell trying to get it. Now, those lists are already full and closed... So I'm still glad I went in. Even if the chances these $100 will get my the EQ are 5%, I'm okay with that. If it was $1000, then it's a different story.
Toyota dealership asking for $1000 deposit for the 2023 Prius. Crazy. I’m glad GM took only $100 from me.

GM? Or the dealer?

Yeah, but that's REAL reservation. Ours is just a wait-list for a deposit.

Very true
I received and email overnight with information on reserving a Silverado EV.
