EV Tax Credit Cap Raised to $80k

Today's change raises the retail price cap to $80,000 from $55,000 for vehicles such as the Tesla Model Y, Cadillac Lyriq, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen’s ID.4.

Previously some or all models of these vehicles did not qualify because they didn’t weigh enough to be considered an SUV by the Treasury’s standards.

What happens now to the recent Tesla and Ford price drops?

Kyle mentioned this on the INSIDEEVS podcast today....he thinks recent Tesla Model Y price cuts in the US probably won't last...

Seriously, Tesla list prices are gonna resemble UBER surge pricing soon.....🤣

A policy should be put in place disallowing companies to suddenly change MSRP day to day or month to month. Year to year is much better.

I feel this was a political favor. Anyone that can afford an $80,000 car doesn't need government assistance.

The Lyriq starts at 58K that was impacted by this... there are plenty of Happy Lyriq reservation holders right now and waiting to get their hands on the 2024 Lyriq.
