GM opens 2nd Ultium EV plant in China

The first plant in Shanghai opened In October, and the first vehicle produced at the factory is the Cadillac Lyriq crossover. The second plant in Wuhan just opened and will produce the Buick Electra E5. The SAIC-GM joint venture plans to roll out more than 10 Ultium-based models across multiple brands and segments over the next five years.

To sell cars in China you have to build them in China. Yet China joined the screaming to the WTO about WTO violations when Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act.

We all know how joint ventures in China operate and the risks involved with them. This is a win for China, but not so much for the USA.

It's more commitment to the platform. And that's a fine thing at this point, even if it doesn't directly benefit US buyers.
