Does anyone know the right way to remove the front license plate holder from a 2025 equinox EV? My state only requires tags in the back of a car.

Is there a wrong way to do it?

I believe there are only 4 screws that are required to mount the plastic holder, so I would just back them out and you should be good.

After you remove it, I'd would fill in the holes with a flexible fillers that are used for automotive purposes. A quick google search will give you pkenty of options. I'd also use some touch up paint to match and give a clean look.

It is unfortunate the dealer mounted it prior to you buying the vehicle. My state requires it on the front but the dealer left it off but asked that I sign a paperwork that it acknowledges it is required in my State and that the dealer is not responsible if I chose to ignore this law. I just can bring myself to put it on the front of the vehicle as I love the look of the front.

rivets not screws

My mistake. Those rivets are painted black and were somewhat camouflaged against the black holder when I first saw them.

Jim has some good advice. Hopefully the metal is soft and you can get through them without issue. Good luck.

Not every state requires front plates so they provide options. I declined to have it installed and i had to sign a form agreeing to it.

I have no problem with GM not mandating it or putting dimples becuase I like the look of the front without the plate.
