If you were Boss of GM which old Chevy model would you want to bring back as an EV?

Huh, I never heard of this car.

Reviews say the two seater was heavy, slow with poor handling.

Really? It had a power metal folding top. They were also at the time thinking of bring back the Chevy Nomad.

Heh. My grandfather had an El Camino for a couple of years after moving out of the city in about 1967, and his Mustang prove... impractical... in country life. After about five hard years, it died and he bought an F150. (He was glad to be back in a Ford, but hated that the F150 was so slow. Grampa Eddie was known for having a lead foot.)

It had the C6 Corvette engine and a 0-60 that my Volt and Bolt can beat. Plus complaints about handling.

Oh, wow. Speaking of Chevy Nomad. I'd want an electrified version of the first new vehicle I ever bought...a 1977 Chevy Nomad G20 3/4 ton long-wheel-base van - custom ordered from the factory with a big-discount through the GM employees/family deal. Had a 292 c.i. 6-cylinder engine, MANUAL 3-spd on the column transmission, MANUAL steering with a massively-big steering wheel. No AC. But it had great captain's front seats, a REMOVABLE 3-passenger rear bench seat. Pop-out rear passenger and back windows, insulated panels in the back-half. This was right during the peak-van era in the 70's. I think the 292 was the last of the "leaded gas" engines GM built. Big 2-barrel carb, electronic ignition, No air pump, no catalytic converter. Got 17-18 mpg on the highway. Great torque. Towed my 15' sailboat with it.

It was a reliable beast that served us for 15 years. Carried my young family like a giant station wagon, but I could pull out the bench seat and pick up a load of 2x4's. Finally sold it in 1992 when we moved to Redding, CA. We had previously purchased a new Chevy Lumina APV for family use in 1990 and the Nomad van had become my "work" vehicle, but in Redding, we have hot summers and I was traveling a lot in the mountains and needed something with AC + 4WD - A 1993 GMC Sonoma pickup that I'd rather forget.

Drop a 24 module-pack into that Nomad and you have the perfect e-van.

Here's a photo of a representative 1977 G10 Nomad...mine was all powder-blue like the lower half of this image's two-tone color.

So the name Nomad was just a trim and not a model name? This thread is also teaching new buyers a little history about the brand :)

Chevy evolved the “Nomad” title from a model to a trim line. The ”Nomad” trim implied a multifunctional use for passenger, cargo, or perhaps camping. Before the van, there were Chevelle and Vega wagon Nomad trim lines.

For a little baby—boomer-era history background: Back in the mid-late 70’s Chrysler-Dodge introduced the “Caravan” van which was an instant hit and everyone was converting to micro RV type things…the bumper sticker “don’t bother knockin‘ if this van’s a rockin” evolved from this movement. The Chevy van Nomad trim was also targeting that market;)

Shaggin' Wagons. (In the late 1970s and early 1980s there were clubs of owners of those customized vans that would participate in local parades, just to get the length/duration up. Woe to those on the driver's side of the street when a dozen or so of those went past with the passenger side open.)

I think I'd go resurrect the Pontiac Fiero GT. Stack the batteries in the engine bay and drive the rear wheels with two motors; one on each side of the bay.

The Volt but with Ultium. There's a market for transitional EV/ICE cars.
