Just went to the dealer to install a blue E that fell off the side of my door and I asked them to install any updates. Just got YouTube! Videos and all!. The Google maps interface also changed as well as some other screens.

See "How To Get This Update" summary in post #201

Wow - thank you for this post. This is the first time I am seeing a post with Kernel version and Build number.

This is my car built in July 2025, and it's one of the vehicles that has never gotten an OTA and show no updates when I check.

Why are my Android security patch level, Kernal version, and Build number all older than yours?

Sounds like I need to have dealer do the "forced update" or whatever it's called to my car.

What’s different about Google Maps? Can you do a screenshot if possible?

I saw an announcement that update was being delivered to 2024 and 2025 GM EVs about a week ago. It focused on Silverado EV and Sierra EV but mentioned other vehicles. The GM Authority article link is here.

I didn't post here because I thought it was fools gold... again. Glad to see it finally is here.

I'm at 13,300 miles in 1 year of ownership,so I'll probably get the update in a couple months for my next service visit at 15k.

I just had my tires rotated and asked the service guy if they could update any software that needed it. He said GM doesn't like them doing it unless it's to address an issue or it's a GM mandated update. I guess I should have pressed further. I still don't have the latest OTA update.

You have the right to request this, and they should have just done it automatically during your visit. Some dealers are reluctant as other problems can (and have) developed. But nonetheless - policy is they are supposed to do this any time the car is in for service, or at your request...

the VWP by the dealer is a good idea if your car is one that has never received any OTA updates. In my mind, the system is constipated and needs VWP to clear the blockage and get up to date :)

Very good way of putting it.

Understand that the infotainment system (radio) is the one thing that isn't covered automatically during VWP (vehicle wide programming). The dealers have to do the radio separately with a 2 step process (SPS programming and USB stick). In the past, certain dealers have omitted this causing additional hassle. Having a good dealer service team is key with these cars.

I just text my sales rep from the dealership I bought my Equinox seeing if they can do this update. Will keep you posted on what he says and any details

I think my dealership may make me make up an issue that would cause them to do the VWP. Im gonna get the dash mat installed and then say whatever else to try and get them to do the update. This should apply to '24 as well? Also an update like this wouldn't show under our VIN as needing an update?

You need to read post #14 by high-tech guy, then tell the dealer you want the Vehicle Wide Programming (24-NA-143). If you look at the attached picture in the post and read the underlined text, the dealers are required to do it as a part of the B2B warranty.

When you bring it in, make sure they do the 2 step process infotainment system (radio) update as described in post #22. Hopefully that does the trick. Good luck.

Thanks Geohec.. this helps. Will reach out to my sales rep again and quote what you said and see if the results are different.

Yes, do what Geohec said. You lost them at SQBR6. They have no clue what that is.

They should - there is likely a TSB with that new infotainment version also. I don't have an active GM service subscription currently to check (someone could), but usually when a new infotainment software comes out there is an associated service note. In that service note, there is a list of all the infotainment things updated, and it references the version number, and how to perform the radio update (SPS and USB).

Here is and example of what it looks like (from the last major update - NOT the SQBR6 we want)...

... and so on - with change list and programming procedure following.

So if the dealer is actually looking up TSB's for the car model & year, they should know all this. But many only look for active recalls for the VIN (very few of these), as opposed to doing any TSB research for the car family as a whole.

Ok sent the exact info to my sales rep and he will check in with the service department. Lets see what they have to say with this new info

Few more changes I notice:

- Speed on HUD seems a bit larger
-When you are using the wireless charger, the phone symbol on the main screen shows a small charging symbol (lightning bolt) - Great for checking if you phone is actually charging! There was a separate update that was done for the wireless charger so I'm not sure if you need that as well done to get this.
-When reversing into my driveway, the garage open symbol would appear on the bottom of the screen below right to the reverse camera, BUT, if you reversed over 5 km/h the symbol would disappear, now it stays on all the time while reversing.

This has been the case for me since I bought the car last December.
