Is there a way to keep the car doors from locking while the car is parked at home so I don't need to grab the keys every time I want to get into the car?

No, and this is annoying. GM needs to give us a setting to not lock at home. I mean the car already has your home location known (used for charging). Tesla and others allow auto-locking to be disabled at home - GM needs to address.

There are two options for workarounds. You can temporarily disable auto-locking by holding down the unlock button for 4 seconds when exiting the vehicle (with door open). But four seconds is an eternity, and this is not convenient if the car is mostly at home.

The method I use is to turn off passive locking altogether. I then use delayed locking when I am away from home, and want to lock the car. You just press the interior lock button when you get out. It will auto-lock after all doors are closed for a period of time, and honk to confirm. The delay feature allows others to get out, you to get cargo out, etc - and not need another action to lock with the fob. Old school, but solves the issue of not wanting the car to auto-lock at home, or at other destinations (friends & relatives, short stops, etc).

As my Equinox EV was delivered, if I get out of the car and walk away, it is unlocked and it stays unlocked.

Have you read your owner's manual? Have you gone through the vehicle settings menus on the center screen to see what options you have? You may want to check the setting for Passive Door Locking and set it to off if it is currently on. This should stop the vehicle from locking itself when you walk away with the fob, however it cannot be customized to function based on location.

The function of Passive Door Locking is described right on the center touch screen.
The OP wants the car to normally passively auto-lock, but not when at home. There is no setting to control this automatically based on home vs. away location. Other vehicles offer this - just not GM or Ultium.

Yes, in the settings there is an area for automatic locking of your vehicle. However, remember this is an all or nothing situation. As for doing this, think about what you keep in the car and if it's something you're willing to have stolen. If not, use the automatic locking feature.

While on the topic of theft from inside a vehicle, never put anything with your home address in the vehicle. Always use the registration copy that doesn't have the address on it, just the owner's name(s). This address can give a gang information about your house sitting with no one at home.

How easy is it for a thief to get your address from the license plate number or the VIN? I’m guessing it would be fairly easy in this information age.

Car (and phones, and computers, etc) manufacturers seem to think customers want things automated and done for us, but the problem is they cannot know what everyone wants and when. I personally hate this stuff. Judging from other threads on the forum, others have issues, too, like how do I keep the car from reacting to fob presence?, how do I stop the doors from locking when I put it in drive?, etc.

I disabled walk away locking. I touch the door lock rectangle on the handle when I want it locked.
