I got a Tailwind system and solved the problem. If my phone is paired to the car and move from further than 200 yards from home to within 200 yards from home, the garage door opens. Same conditions reversed, and the garage door closes automatically. (It also tells me if I leave it open, and integrates with home automation.)

It suits my uses FAR better than a button in a car.

Sounds good if you always want the door to open or close under those conditions, and you alway use the same garage door, in case you have more than one. Can you easily disable or override the automation?

Trivially, and it's controllable on a per-car and per-door basis. The system supports multiple doors by car well, so long as each distinct vehicle has a door that it typically parks behind. So if you're coming home in the Bolt instead of the Equinox, and the Bolt is in the left bay instead of the right, it'll auto-open the left door.
