Hello, I read and follow all posts on here as you seen Im on here and I check every day quite often, Ive never even drove an EV before but Im 100% getting one. And everyone seems very intelligent and lots of knowledge in this industry. From your personal experience and knowledge, I know alot here have a few EV's Chevy at that.
  • Where you on a waiting list for your first before there was any in production?
  • If so what has your experience been like, was it a long wait from day of reservation ( officially with pricing not out yet for EQ ) and was there many available. as at my dealer Im 6 on the wait list with the 500 deposit as posted awhile ago.
Just really curious what my chances are and how long of a wait ill actually have to get delivery. As you know there's all these people GM is only making a few EV's a day production is not ramping up as expected etc. etc. Im still hopeful but want to be realistic.
Thanks in Advance
cheers

I was not on a waiting list for either my Chevy Volt or my Chevy Bolt EV. I'm not on any for the Equinox EV, either. But you do you.

I started by researching the cars by following online forums like this one, learning about the car, specifications, potential issues.
When I was ready to buy, I started by doing some test drives to confirm what I already knew and to experience the car itself.
Then the buying process starts. This is the hardest part as you have to run the dealer finance department gauntlet.

There are things to look out for and avoid, things to do and not do. There are a number of YT videos that can help give you some tips. For example, see

As far as I understand, wait-lists aren't even available in the US. I only heard of Canadians on them (here, and in the Equinox EV subreddit).

When you bought your Volt and Bolt, there wasn't a shortage of this scale. If I waited ONE SINGLE day to get on those wait-lists, they would have been closed already (they close them at 500). And I got in the first day they opened. If they will actually go through with serving people on the lists first, people who weren't there will have to wait at least an extra year to get the Nox... And will probably STILL have to sign up for a wait-list for the 2026 model in order to get one.

I'm not one of the people here who got 3-4 cars that I just replace every 3-4 years, or getting another car on top of my 1 or 2 EVs I already have...I'm driving my cars at least until they're 10-12 years old. I can't just keep mine for another 4 years. So being on 3 lists for a refundable $300 is such a low-risk-high-reward gamble, that I don't see the point not taking.

People won't even drive 2 hours to get a car at a different dealer if it was $300 cheaper, but they would draw the line at putting these $300 when it might save them 2 years?! Then you might have to get a different EV, which will cost much more than a $300 difference over the Nox.

Well, the first model to be offered will be the 2RS. For anything other, you'll have to wait till spring 2024 at best.

I'm also in canada, on a waitlist at 3 different dealership, but paid only $100 each. I didn't know some of them charge $500.
I guess my question really is , if they are starting deliveries in Fall of 2023 for 2rs and Spring 2024 for the remaining trims, I would think they would need to release trims prices etc in advance to start full filling orders. Wondering when they will provide that information. Or is it in the fall and spring they will start taking orders , and delivers later then those dates.

Going by the 3LT... Their official site says pricing will be announced summer 2023

In Canada, for GM, there are dealer allotments. If the vehicle is in demand, as is the case with every EV, it is up to each dealer to decide how they'll manage their allotment. Some have waitlists - others do not. Some charge nothing, some $100, some $500, some $1000 and others won't take your name. This salesman of a GM dealership in Quebec, in French, has a pretty good video on how GM dealer waitlist can work. You should speak with your local dealers to know how they've chosen to proceed.

If all dealers in your area have waitlists for the Equinox EV, my guess is that you're probably out of luck for the initial batch of 2RS in fall 2023. I'm #2 at the dealership close to my home. If I don't like or want the limited edition 2RS, according to my dealer, I'd get first dibs on those that become available in 2024.

If like other GM models, typically about 3 months beforehand is when the dealers know their allotment and can proceed to order specific cars. At that point, they would know price of trims and options available at that time. GM should make trim prices public by this summer, but exact availability of each and pricing of all options may be more fluid.

I have a deposit of 500 and #6 on the list. but this is my first EV rodeo, just wondering what my chances of getting one. But thanks for all ur answers very inciteful. Im on east Coast New Brunswick . My interests are the 2 LT AWD or possible the 2RS AWD (pending on price point). Hoping my i can get one by 2024 at some point. Just not sure with all thats going on , what the actual production levels and allocations will be like.

Your guess is as good as mine. If your dealer moves a lot of cars, he'll likely have a bigger allotment, but no one, not even GM, knows for sure how many cars will be made and when and we won't know how GM will chose to distribute them. I'm guessing GM was expecting to have delivered more Cadillac Lyriqs by now...

Also, when it comes out, you may not like the Equivox EV. My wife loved her 1st Kia Rondo and chose to buy a 2nd without a proper road test. Big mistake. On paper a perfect car for her, but with atrocious visibility in her seating position.

Very True, I guess when it comes down to it time will tell , what the prices are and when/if we will be getting them in.
