There is no regenerative braking in reverse. The vehicle was designed that way.

 

I don't know of any EV, including Teslas, that has regenerative braking in reverse. I suspect this is to help keep the brakes from corroding and seizing for lack of use.

 

If you are using one pedal driving, automatic hold works in D mode and you don't need to step on brake. For revers always and for drive when one pedal is OFF you need apply brake, otherwise it will creep like ICE car

 

I was on a test ride with regen ON for one pedal drive. So unlike Bolt EUV it will roll back in Reverse? It did not do so in D though.

 

GM removed OPD/Regen on reverse for their Ultium vehicles Lyriq did have this ability until an OTA update removed it.

GM wants it this way. It's to help exercise the physical brakes, clean the rotors, etc.

personally its annoying. I'm just getting used to it since my bolt had it.. one pedal drive should be one pedal drive .. not one pedal only in forward..

 

Agree with you. It can be annoying and confusing at times. Especially if you own both like me.

Things get refined over time.

 

Because the friction brakes are some seldom used, some long time drivers with GM blended brakes advise occasionally driving the car , put in Neutral and hit the brakes hard. This may help clean the rotors and exercise the calipers to avoid them getting "frozen" from non-use. So, lack of regen while in Reverse in the Equinox EV is not a bad thing. Except for perhaps an initial surprise for those expecting regen, it doesn't really affect the use of the car one way or the other.
