I had these, modified, on my Bolt EUV without the Chevrolet logo's. Looking to put them on the EQEV as well. Any update from those with them? I don't care for the way the OEM offering looks.

Which of the following"these" discussed above are you referring to, Imola.ZHP?

Please update your account Signature (displays below your posts) and your account Vehicle Details (displays below your avatar) with your Equinox EV details. It's easy, see How to Add Your Equinox EV Details to Your Signature
The one OP posted. Not sure why I asked, they should be the same.

I’ll look for some with black bolts or bolt caps though, nice tip.

Received the rails and installed yesterday. A few thoughts:

Nicely packed, seems to be well made:

The ends attach with one screw, with a plate you need to insert into the rails, then put the end on, then attach a screw through it. This was the trickiest part, as the plate sits loose in the rail and you need to try and line up the screw. I used a folded square of paper to hold it in place, pushed against the edge of the rail.

The racks installed no issue. They are curved, not flat, so I still need to see how well my roof top carrier will sit. I also may look for black screws to swap out the silver ones it is attached with. The little 'Chevrolet' stickers on the feet will likely fall off in a week.

One other issue I see is that in order to use the channel to attach anything, you would need to remove at least on end of from the car to slide the piece in. Not an issue if you are using clamp-on style attachments.

Lastly - the plugs that were covering the bolt holes were a real bugger to get out.

I just installed crossbars from Aloplkobo/Amazon on my 2024 Equinox EV, based on the review above. They are very similar to the bars reviewed above; it looks like they changed the screws location to make it easier to assemble: the set screws are on the top and it was easy to assemble. The Little plate discussed above was pre-assembled.
It looks good on the Equinox, the bars look very solid. My only « complaint » is they make noise! Above 70 km/hr there is a noticeable wind noise. But the car is so quiet that any noise will be noticeable; I guess silent bars might not exist…. ? In any case at 200$cad it was cheap and is very good value. It shipped direct from china and arrived in 2 weeks. Packaging was identical to reviewed above.

I ordered them as well last week. I think they will be delivered next week. They seem to be similar if not the same as the ones I had on my Bolt EUV. I could only hear wind noise when I had the cover to the panoramic roof open, which wasn't often. Our EQEV also has the panoramic roof, so I'm hoping the sound noise will be minimal. Do you have the pano roof?

Wow, those look nothing like the ones on the Chevy vehicle builder (which I was going to pass on since it looked like you couldn’t carry a sheet of plywood, or anything flat, without possibly damaging the rails or what you’re carrying).

Do the Chevy cross rails have usable t-slots under those rubber strips?

How are you suppose to strap anything down on the roof rack. every vehicle with a roof Rack I have ever owned has had some part on the side rails to strap to. There is no such spot here. say if I wanted to strap a ladder down onto my roof rack. how would I strap it left to right to be secure. I know I could strap it front to back.

Respectfully, if you have to ask, it’s probably best that you don’t attempt to use one.

From GM:

"Never carry something longer or wider than the roof rack on top of the vehicle unless using GM Certified accessory carrier.

The official answer would be to purchase a certified ladder carrier that mechanically attaches to the rail system. I don't know if such a thing exists, but uncertified products do as shown in this image (not an Equinox EV):

However the rail system itself comes with tie down points in its product description. Therefore the simple answer would be to attach a ratchet strap to the tie down location on the cross bar, route it through the rungs of the ladder to the other side of the vehicle.

You need to get bars that attache to the rails, then you lash down whatever you are carrying. Note there is a weight limit detailed in the Owners Manual.

I have been strapping down things to car racks for year. they all had space on the side rails to wrap a strap between the car roof and the side rails. These have no such space.

I have the Factory cross rails. but that will only allow me to strap from front to back.

I am sorry, I thought the forum was a place to ask for help. I guess one should never learn anything new and just not do anything since they do not know how.

GEEZE.

I wish people who do not want to be helpful just keep to themselves.

I guess it is ok to be a jerk if you just put respectfully in front your your insulting comment.

I have seen internet posts where people modify cross rails by adding a tie down ring on the end. The roof rails as delivered are supposed to be a compromise between utility and aerodynamics so that they can be run empty without adding a lot of drag. That possibly explains the design decision or we could be cynical and say that it is to require you to purchase extra accessories to connect to the rails.

I considered them to be decorations. ;)

What I have for the Bolt EV are Thule feet and cross bars that extend past the roof rails, msav. I removed the end caps from the bars and can use the open end for the strap hooks and I can wrap the hooks the ends instead so they are "captured/stopped" by the rails when I tighten. I only put on the cross rails a few times a year when buying lumber, plywood, drywall and the like. I'd post a picture of the setup but am 2k miles away from the car at the moment.

The GM bars curve into the feet and are not suitable for this, but some 3rd party racks are available.

Here is a competing product which is made in Turkey (a NATO member), available on Amazon USA.

It is.

Thanks for updating your Account Settings Signature and Vehicle Details with your Equinox EV information!
  • Each sub-forum here has one or more "stickies", threads that will always display at the top of the list of posts in that forum. These would be good for review as they usually deal with common questions, concerns, issues.
  • GM also has training videos on YouTube for the Equinox EV, great for a quick overview.
  • I also recommend downloading the complete Owner's manual from the Chevy website as it has answers for many of the "what is it? where is it, how do I" questions people have.

I am thinking I will go with some thing like this. It is all one piece instead of multiple pieces that I think would come apart eventually. It clamps down to the factory cross bars that I already have.

The bars sold by Chevy do not bend into the feet, they stick out at the ends. This makes it easier to secure loads side-to-side.
