There are a dozen or so locations in NY and CA that have installed the adapters and can now be used by CCS vehicles. From looking at prices in the app it appears to cost about 10 cents more per kwh than the Tesla rate so I’d probably only use it as a backup but its good to have options and I’ve found them to be far more reliable than EA fast chargers.

I think we are a long way from kWh price wars to rival gas station price marketing.
I agree, but once adoption rates are higher I wonder if there will be a business case for DC chargers with storage batteries fed by solar/hydro/wind/whatever with grid back-up. Level 3 charging today is about 3x the cost of level 2.

I'm not sure about a direct solar/hydro/wind hookup vs. a grid connection that is tied to those, three putts. There already are companies doing that. One is FreeWire:
