Either so I get the Uber Driver app ported onto AAOS, or allow Uber Driver to integrate with AAOS goolge maps (ala Tesla Uber integration).

Without it, the infotainment is useless for Ubering. and I just mount my phone over the infotainment screen so I have something usable.

Uber driving is a must application for me, so if you're insisting on removing Apple carPlay, man up and provide the tools we need.

Otherwise, I'll just use my phone and forget about the useless big screen.

I'm hoping GM is listening. GM is the one that needs to make it happen. It is their walled garden. Uber can't do anything without GM cooperation.

Even allowing something simple like pushing destinations phone->car would be good enough.
The functionality exists already. GM has just decided to disable it.

This is a forum for people that own Equinox EVs. It has no direct ties to GM. If you use the search bar you can find information on contacting GM. You will even find examples of people that have shown they will listen.

To get an Uber (or any) app into the car it needs to get into Google Automotive Services, which is what powers the Play Store in our cars. So the first level of communication has to be between Uber and Google.

If you use Google Maps you already have the ability to push destinations from your phone to the car. My best success has been to do it with the car on and stopped, it happens immediately. Use the search bar to find discussions on this topic.

Since GM has actively disabled the existing feature of google maps to share destinations phone -> car I am not super hopeful.
GM has not disabled the feature. If you use the same google account on your car as you use on your phone,
  1. make sure you have added your car to your google account
  2. search for the address on your phone
  3. get directions to the address on your phone
  4. press the "Send to car" button
The directions will then show up on your car.

For 1 see "Connect your vehicle profile with Google Maps"

I was hoping to see some community support too maybe, but yeah, nah.
Feel free to drop by my house and I will set this up for you. But seriously, this is not a programming community. If you need help with a feature of the car, including software, there is lots of community help here; we may not be able to offer solutions but sometimes we can offer work-arounds. But if you want someone to lobby Uber, Google and GM (in that order), you need to use Google to search out help in the software universe.

Very helpful thanks. I could not get the phone-car destination working so I assumed it was not available.
Google Map version update fixed it for me.

Being able to send destinations phone->car gives me all I need for a workaround.
Uber can be setup to use google maps, and I can send phone->car when I start out.

Sorry, removing carPlay/AA has me a bit cynical about what GM is trying to do, and I just assumed they had disabled the phone->car feature as well.

Given that the entertainment screen is touch capable, Uber could help drivers by allowing the Uber app itself run on the console. I refuse to ever have to look down to see the app information -navigation, but many other functions as well- so I installed a make-shift phone holder at eye level in order to never have to take my eyes off the road. The EQ does not leave much room for a mount, so this is a compromise solution. I use a separate phone for Lyft, and was able to set a mount to the right of the console at arms reach.

This info was very helpful, thanks!

On Android, with Google Maps set to default for navigation in the Uber Driver app, it actually starts navigating in Google Maps instead of just queuing up the route. So, you need to hit the X to stop it from navigating, THEN you can push it to AAOS. A bit clunky with extra steps but could be worse.

A bigger problem: Send to vehicle seems to work 80% of the time, other times the navigation never gets to AAOS. Sometimes when it doesn't push right, I'll start navigating on the phone, then halfway through the ride it finally pushes to the car... anyone else encounter that or have a suggestion?
