Tip#1: get a big battery :)

We like using our heated steering wheel and seats to reduce the need to crank up the air heater.

Always fun to read the bar room"experts" comment on a Fox news story...

Yes, GM advises the same. Keep it plugged in. Preheating needs a 240V charge station as 120V can't supply enough to preheat in winter and you end up using battery to supplement.

slow riding is stupid because you use heater to defog windows
I wonder how applicable that will be to GM's new patented heat pump which will be more efficient than resistance heating? Of course at some point, driving faster is not helpful. Driving at 100 MPH will drain the battery faster than going 55 for the same distance. Wind resistance is still a thing even with sleek styling. :)
