Is the charging door water proof?

Anyone ever have water entering into the charging ports?

All my other BEV vehicles have some sort of cap or seal over the J1772 part of the port. The EQEV has no such thing but does have some weatherstripping on the upper part of the opening -- on the vehicle IIRC.

The CCS bottom two terminals on the EQEV do have a flip up gizmo that would impede water a bit I suppose. But also kind of trap it.

I have little experience with my EQEV, but of the BEV that I have owned, it has the least robust protection over the J1772 port. I've been wondering if there is an aftermarket "plug" that could be placed into the female/car end of the J1772 port to protect it a bit more. That is more or less what my RAV4 PHEV has.....

You would hope a large well-established car company performs due diligence in testing charging in all weather conditions. Rest assured no high voltage is present until the EV performs continuity checks upon plug-in, especially with DCFC.
If there is a problem with water retention and subsequent corrosion, no one's posted about it yet. There have been posts about dirt and contamination affecting the charging ports, but I think it was actually due to a poor latch switch.

My concern is actually dust. I drive in places where the dust is absurd. If the fine dust gets into those holes, and THEN gets wet, its a mess. Its rock dust from the rock covered roads in western KS. My brother carries a can of this parts cleaner in all vehicles including his Lightning. Not only for the EVSE, but in tow vehicles to clean out the 7 pin brake harnesses which get filled with dirt.

WD-40 electrical parts cleaner

My Rav4 PHEV has a rubber cover/plug that covers the female J1772 under the charge port cover. Nissan has a flip cover under the larger cover the independently closes the J1772 or Chademo so you can use one without flooding the other. Quite robust, but outdated. Lighting has weather stripping 360 degrees around the charge port cover so less dust. But still exposed somewhat. Saw an IQ4 VW today. Its has a "bellows" like bell that fits over the CCS assembly when the charge port door is closed. The "bell" is attached to the door and rotates out of the way when you open the door.

EQEV is pretty open.
