This is not a pet peeves thread, it's a RELIABILITY thread. Is the car reliable? Yes.
I think it depends on your definition of reliability. I'd consider build quality issues as reliability issues. If I have to bring it in to the dealer for anything other than TSBs, it's a reliability issue.

  • At 1874 miles I brought it in for TSB 24-NA-143, but also for the charge port door issue (not repaired because they couldn't reproduce it), and also the center panel was loose down by my right foot, rattling and contacting the accelerator pedal.
  • The brake master cylinder failed at about 2700 miles, reprogrammed, then replaced at 2960 miles.
  • At about 4800 miles the Telematics unit went out, as it has for many people.

If the individual components of a car are not reliable, is the CAR reliable?

I love this car but based on what I've dealt with, my jury is still out on overall reliability.

We have had our EQEV since last December, 6 months in ownership. It has exceeded my expectations. I purposely bought a 25 2LT AWD to get heated seats and steering wheel, extra horsepower and most importantly the 19” wheels which makes for a smooth ride. Roads around Chicgo burbs are rough. The only services from dealership were a recall, adaptive cruise control stopping, failed inter cooler on heat pump, 7.5K tire rotation and bumper clip reattachment. Car is at 10k. Time will tell how well it will hold up to Chicago burb weather.
I live in the city (sadly), but will be commuting to the burbs. I am buying a FWD LT1 tomorrow. Looking forward to the range. We are just getting the comfort and safety 2 package. If it become problematic in winter, I’ll likely do winter tires and smaller rims (18’s) if I can find ones that fit over the calipers.

Valid point on the build quality and paint, BehindBars. Though my bumpers do match the rest of the car, a slight shade difference could be annoying. Something to look for at pickup time along with dings, septs, scratches, rips, etc.

During my "CSI-like" inspection I discovered a cracked body panel plastic rivet that was replaced, I also had a rear coil spring cup replaced. Both I consider minor build quality issues.

Calling something a design flaws can be more a tricky.

For example, I use the Auto feature for headlights so the infotainment on/off location for me is not an issue. Things like this seem to be very driver specific. On the other hand, being able to move it would address your need. But you can't so that could be considered a design flaw.

In the same way, some will claim the steering wheel up/down buttons for selecting radio stations work the opposite of their preference and would call it a design flaw. But it works and the logic is fine for me.

Same goes for the driver's side left front charge port. Some may claim that location is a design flaw because they want it somewhere else (RF, RR, LR) even though it's perfect for me.

I know the EV is quite new but wondering how is the general build quality.
I am thinking of buying one if I can since deals are galore around everywhere.
I am in So Cal, if anyone know of good dealer to get a good deal, please let me know this as well.

I have chevy bolt ev, may replace that with Equinox.
I have a 2024 LT with over 12k miles. I have not had any issues. Driving the vehicle is fun and I don't miss gassing up a car. Plus the cargo space is amazingly large.

Just bought a 25 LT. Have had 9 previous EVs from Leaf/Bolt on the low end to Tesla S and Lucid on the high end. I think the Equinox is a great EV, and the LT is absolutely the best value on the market today.

We have 2025 Equinox Ev. Overall We have been pleased. However our onstar module (known as the telemetrics module), has failed and is on backorder. Note this module is used on all gm products not just EVs. What is the impact? Google assistant and map function doesn’t work. You can’t connect to the car remotely, time and date are off, the OnStar service doesn’t work without this module.

Build quality seems great to me. Solid feel, no rattles, smooth ride. Not squishy and rolly like my old gas Civic.

The roof can make an expansion half second "boing" noise when going from hot sun to cold car wash. That's about the only comment I could make and really isn't a build quality thing.

My Equinox EV is only a couple of months old. But so far, it's great. As far as build quality it's also been impressive. No squeaks or creaking, even over bumpy roads.
Maybe my only complaint is the icons on the buttons and wheel seem to be too small for me to quickly identify. Or maybe it's just my eyes.😄

Physical build seems very good to excellent but no one knows long term reliability. The car is very complex with advanced features that could be costly to repair but that is the same for any modern vehicle. Electrical and computer repairs are my biggest concern but again, that’s today’s world.

I’m at 14,000 miles on my 2025 and I love it so much me and my wife are on our way now to pick up a second one
We found an incredible lease deal on a 2025 LT for $117 a month with $2500 down
what msrp and incentives?

The "EV" has been around for over a Century. When I converted my Saturn SL2 to electric I was amazed at how few things went wrong there after- really, nothing save for needing brake reworking since I didn't have a way to do a regen. My Equinox EV, however, has funny things going on with the electronic accessories. I still can't get into "My Chevrolet" because my wife got there first. The help people say they're trying to fix

Had my 2025 since December. The best car I’ve ever owned and I’m 66 years old.

2025 EQ EV. I convinced a friend to buy the exact same model with the same equipment. Both around 1,500 miles and a couple months in. Zero complaints. Great car. We both love them. Best part, neither of our wives will drive them!

I am 64, worked in the auto industry for 40 plus years. Owned DOZENS of cars from eco boxes to turbos, coupes, sedans, SUV‘s, an 800 + HP modified ZL1, pickups , diesels , Suburbans, Tahoes…. You name it. This car is GREAT.

As long as the reliability issue does not involve the essential driving part of the vehicle, I can live with a glitchy infotainment system. I'm not sure if the reliability data takes this into account. Mine is only 3 months old. So far, so good. No reliability issue. That is a longer period of trouble-free span than our previous 22 Ford Escape PHEV.

love my 2025 Equinox EV. yes, it's a great car . We traded in our Volvo XC40 which is also a great car BUT the range was too low - 240 in good weather. I get over 300 miles in the Equinox. no anxiety. I live in New Hampshire with cold winters, so must deal with loss of range.

yes, as to the build of the car, it's a GM and I have always trusted GM. I've driven 4 GM cars in my life and this one is as solid as any of them.
