I had a weird thought, check to see if it is in Transport mode, maybe it restricts the charging rate. I don’t know why they would. But….. Just grasping at straws..

Good thought. I'll try anything at this point...but, it was off.

I didn’t know you could drive it normally and still have it in Transport Mode. I wonder if that could be a reason why some people are having trouble with the MyChevrolet App updating correctly?

I thought it restricted power and disabled being able to get into some of the apps and settings. But I don’t know since I haven’t tried it.
I was just trying to think of things nobody has looked at yet.

Update. Took suggestion to turn off the hvac system. Drove around to precondition the batteries for fast charge. Vehicle at 55 %. Plugged into a petro canada 350 kw dcfc and.........29kw
I charged twice at different Petro Canada, the first one was about 75kw the second around 98kw

That might be your problem charging at Petro Canada. Likely not but I know around here those chargers are terrible and unreliable. If you have a Electrify Canada try one of those. I would suggest getting PlugShare app and seeing what people are saying about the chargers you are thinking of going to.

I checked it is not in transport mode.

Here is update to dealing with DC speed limited to 28-29kw. I took my vehicle in the dealership on 10/09/2024.
They took a look at it and had to order couple of parts. I am attaching the work order and what parts that were ordered.

We will see how long it will take to get the parts. They did not have ETA. I have my car because I can AC charge at home with the no problems.

Actually I’m glad they found something wrong, hopefully the new part will solve the problem for you.

I had this for a couple of weeks at 30 kW for a number of DC Fast Chargers. Per a comment on the Facebook Equinox users group I had pulled the manual charging release cable to see how it worked. It didn't really retract to its original position. Having the manual release cable in the wrong place may have contributed to the DC Fast Charger not locking on for the fast charge. I made sure that it was the width of a finger (1/2 inch) between the tube and the base of the loop, and charged again at a DC Fast Charger that started the charge at 160kW, and have had no recurring issues for 2 1/2 months with quite a few DC Fast charges.

For those with this issue, does the CCS1 plug lock into your car? If not, this is why it's not charging above 30 KW. In the Facebook Equinox EV group one of the members pulled on the emergency CCS1 release cable that's under the hood and saw this. He was able to push it back in to reset the locking mechanism. Here's a picture of the cable.

Thanks for posting, EqMan! This may indeed be the cause and leads to a simple fix.

Has anyone experienced their Equinox only getting, at best, 30KW when level 3 charging? I've had the vehicle for approx. 6 weeks and not once has it gone past 30KW. Took it in to the dealership and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. No fault code, no issue. It was probably the chargers. And now they refuse to look at it again(well, theyll look at it for the shop rate). I've used multiple 150-350 KW chargers in a 5 hr radius and it never charges higher than 30KW. I find it hard to believe their claim that EVERY charger I've used in 6 weeks is defective. I realize all the hype about it being slower than the competition, but when i charge its 150km in 60 mins or longer....their website claims 123km in as little as 10 mins.
Appreciate any help someone can provide in either the issue or how to go about getting the dealership to fix it.

Thanks
Yes it's slow but something wrong there. Dealers know nothing. Complain to the EV concierge at Chevrolet and don't let up

Did you check the quick release cable to make sure the DC CSS1 connector was clicked/locked into the charge port, Flmatthew?

This exact issue happened to me. I have the 2024 Equinox EV 2LT. At approximately 7000 miles, I was preparing to take a road trip. I got about 170 miles away from the house when I stopped to charge. I was using a 350kw DC high speed Ultium charger at a Pilot service station. My Equinox would not charge faster than 29KW. When this was happening, it was because the locking pin located in the charging receptacle on the car was not engaging. If you listen closely, when you put the charging cable into the receptacle you will hear the locking mechanism trying to engage. It makes this whining mechanical sound several times, then it just gives up and will reduce charging speed to a max of 29KW. I tried to use the cable under the hood to reset the locking pin, and it didn't do anything. I was told that "you dont pull the cable, you're supposed to push the cable in." The design is ridiculous. Why put a cable with a pull loop on the vehicle if it's supposed to be pushed in. It didn't matter if I "pulled it" or "pushed it"...it didn't work! I took the car to my local Chevrolet dealership and had them hook it up to their high speed charger and made them listen to the lock trying to engage. I, also, showed them the transactions I had in my phone app, which showed the max charging speed of 29KW, as well. They replaced the charging receptacle on the vehicle. This is a common problem from what I've gathered. Also, I had to have the 12V battery replaced at around 6500 miles because it would not hold a charge. They had to drag my Equinox out of the parking space it was in and take it to the dealership because it would not turn on. Do not let the dealership treat you like it's your problem. They need to fix the issue! I hope this helps.

A little update. It's been over 4 months since I brought this issue up to the dealership and GM EV customer care department. Just this Wednesday gone by they replaced the manual actuator and sent me on my way. With that part I have gained a whopping 7kw. Now at a 350kw dcfc I charge at a rate of 37kw. This is getting old and patience is wearing...is there anything a person can do...I'd love to just drop the keys off and say here, take your defective vehicle back...but I know that's not an option.
