According to the article in the Detroit News, not all Chevy dealerships will get these vans. Only those dealerships that already have commercial customers will receive them.

 

I saw one article that claimed "The average daily range usage for Class 1 vehicles is about 40-60 miles. " That seems low to me, but have no data to say otherwise.


The BrightDrop Zevo 600 is slightly more efficient than the Zevo 400 with the standard 14-module battery and AWD, offering 182 miles of highway, 139 miles of city, and 164 miles of combined range. These ranges are either 4 or 5 miles greater than the ranges offered by the same configuration on the Zevo 400.

Meanwhile, ranges are identical for Zevo 600 and Zevo 400 units equipped with the optional 20-unit battery. In both cases, the EV gets 303 miles on the highway, 234 miles in the city, and 272 miles combined.

 

We have a Chevy 1500 Express cargo van at work for my team and we use it daily around town between sites. I think we maybe drive 30 miles a day with it. It rarely goes outside its little area of support.

 

This move makes sense. GMC dealers would not be as good of an option, as GM will not be making any "work truck" type GMC EVs. Many Chevrolet dealers also are already selling/servicing the Silverado EV WT work truck, which is dedicated only to the commercial fleet market. The Chevy dealers' commercial fleet sales staff will already be dialed in both with GM EV products and with their local commercial customer bases. On the service side, they will already be set up to service the e-truck Ultium systems, including the 14 and 20-module batteries, drive units, etc. I never quite understood how GM was going to make "Brightdrop" work without a local dealer network, as most commercial vehicle sales and service is local.
