Independent Range Test

I read on car and drives website that they tested the FWD and AWD variants at 75 mph and they both achieved 260 mile range. I'm trying to find out if this has been confirmed by others. I love the Idea of just the front wheel drive but reviewers say it's slow . I'm going to test drive a FWD and an AWD to verify for myself as this is also probably my first full ev. I currently have a 2017 Volt with 123000 miles.

Reviewers who are saying its slow are reviewers who were expecting tesla like acceleration, high instant torque. GM is targeting nice EV linear torque curve but not going crazy, something more familiar to someone from ICE. Not everyone needs a rocket ship.

I had to think about this (acceleration) during my test drive and realized it accelerates slower than my Volt and significantly faster than my wife's Honda Clarity PHEV. I'm not worried or concerned.

The Equinox EV is not meant to have muscle car acceleration, cpo. If "tire burning" is a primary concern, perhaps a Ford Mach-e or a Corvette e-Ray, etc. are what you are looking for.

As far as the driving range, GM is known to be conservative on its EPA numbers unlike Tesla. Other Equinox EV owners are reporting more range than the EPA number. See https://www.equinoxevforum.com/thre...um.com/threads/my-equinox-ev-range-is-more-than-the-epa-319-miles-problem.1418/

Of course driving style can affect that too. See "tire burning", lol.

I'm waiting for Inside EVs range test. C&D tested at a speed that's illegal in more than half the country. IEV tests at 70 MPH. Also, every vehicle I've ever owned has a dramatic drop in range between 70 and 75 MPH.

Wind speed does things to cars and people, lol

Yes, speed kills....range as you know Obermd. The faster you go, the more resistance the air has and efficiency drops. Same for ICEv's as well. Air resistance is a thing. Here's an example, but the drop applies to all moving vehicle as speed increases.

I've felt like several reviewers, and not just the C&D reviewers, didn't like the fact that the Equinox EV drives just like every other vehicle on the road and isn't a high-performance sports vehicle. Personally, I'm convinced that EVs won't make inroads to the general public as long as they're all performance vehicles. A lot of people don't want, and many can't safely drive high performance vehicles.
