myChevrolet app lost connectivity with my Equinox EV

I’ve had my 2025 Equinox EV RS since January, and up until last week everything worked perfectly.

While charging recently, I noticed the myChevrolet app was displaying incorrect information — for example, it showed the car as “unplugged” while it was actively charging. I also can’t send commands (lock/unlock, remote start, etc.) from my phone to the vehicle anymore.

I reached out to Chevrolet support. They attempted troubleshooting but weren’t successful. They mentioned it could be an SMS/cellular connectivity issue with the vehicle’s communication module and suggested I take it to a Chevrolet dealer for diagnosis.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Equinox EV? If so, what ended up fixing it?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Mentioned pretty much all over the GM forums - widespread problems with the Telematic module. Percentage unknown, but impacting many vehicle models.

In this case, support is correct - take it to the dealer to diagnosis and confirm. The module is typically backordered, but not as long as they say.

High-techguy points out one possible explanation, but the other part of the problem may be the MyChevy App on the phone.

There are hundreds of post on this forum from the summer of 2024 until early this year stating slow start up, no ability to communicate with vehicles, and many more. I experienced what you described as well. Many members clearly voiced their displeasure with the app.

Several months ago, GM simplified the app and start times were greatly improved from 30+ sec to about 10 sec. Things were bug free for me for a couple months, but lately it seems like the app is back to its old slow ways, but I'm still able to lock doors, precondition the cabin, and check SOC. Currently mine works but is slow.

Ikniw heading to the dealer is a big hassle, so you might try signing out of the app and signing back. Or try uninstalling the app then re-installing it. Good luck.

Uninstall app/reinstall app to clear cache and start fresh. Sometimes after updates this needs to be done.

If you are signed up with RecurrentAuto.com and your Recurrent dashboard is suddenly not getting data updates, that means there’s no need to reinstall your MyChevrolet application - the problem is the car’s inability to communicate (very likely a failed telematics module).

Glad to hear it helped.

The other thing to mention is whether people have the latest version of the app. I remember have an issue not so long ago (e.g. slow/ laggy) and noticed an update was waiting for me to install in the Android Playstore. I ran the update and things were zippy again.

For me the app was always slow to update the vehicle status (on iOS), but after the latest update the time it takes to see the latest vehicle status like SOC has gone down from 20-30 to about 5 seconds now. So whatever they did recently has helped a lot. Not sure about the commands, which also took a long time to activate previously, but maybe that has improved as well.

Well, I took my vehicle in to the dealer for the free 7,500 mile service and for the MyChevrolet non-communication, RecurrentAuto.com non-communication, & inaccurate vehicle locations shown on Google Maps & Waze, all of which pointed toward the infamous Telematics Module. Dealer claimed to have heard nothing about Telematics Module failures and said it could be something else instead. Dealer just now notified me that the 7,500 mile service was completed and that it was in fact the Telematics Module, that the part was on order with no ETA, and that they would provide a rental car to use until the part arrived. I rejected that plan and proposed that the dealer give me my car back & notify me when the part arrives, at which point I would bring the car back for installation of the new Telematics Module. Dealer said he would have to ask the manager if I could do that. Manager OK’ed the plan, so I’m off to the dealership to get the vehicle back…

Update: Dealer says that when the Telematics Module arrives, installation will take “the better part of a day”. Car is back under my control, awaiting parts.
