When I picked up the car a couple of days ago it showed the speed limit on the dash display. Now it always shows an empty box / line. I don't recall if it also showed it in the maps like Android Auto but there is no speed limit on the map. I have the setting to recognize signs turned on. This always worked in my EUV.

There is conflicting information in the manual. Essentially two systems are at play, one from Google and one from the camera. It appears that the speed limit from Google would be used as a backup to the camera on the DIC.

Traffic Sign Assistant If equipped, Traffic Sign Assistant recognizes designated traffic signs via the front camera located behind the windshield in front of the interior rear view mirror, and displays the detected speed limit in the Driver Information Center (DIC) or instrument cluster. Traffic Sign Assistant requires an active OnStar subscription. Additionally, speed limit information from the navigation system map database may be used.

Speed Sign Shows sign information from a roadway database in the onboard navigation. The sign will show “− −” when there is no detected speed limit or the system is unavailable.

Traffic Sign Recognition Displays the detected speed limit in your driver display.

I wonder if we should add this to the periodic home maintenance, along with checking fluid levels and wiping down the rubber seals on the doors and hatches.

Mine has been working fine
Same, EV. It could be that a system gets confused for some odd reason and needs the cache cleared. Seems odd the think about clearing the cache as the solution. Does GM expect the dealer service department to diagnose and resolve computer issues? If so, there may be a rocky road ahead.

To rephrase your question then, allendulles:

"My 2025 LT (no options) does not display the speed limit in either Google Maps or the DIC. (There is no little box with MPH.) Is there a Setting to turn it on?"

No, not based on your car details.

According to the order book posted elsewhere, this is not standard with LT but is something included in the optional AS2 package:
Active Safety Package 2, includes (UKK), Rear Pedestrian Alert, (UV2) HD Surround
Vision and (UVX) Traffic Sign Recognition
1 - Included with (Y19) Comfort Package, (ZL3) Convenience Package, (6K5) Convenience
Package II or (AS3) Active Safety Package 3.

I was inexact. I realize my car does not have Traffic Sign Recognition and, therefore, there is no setting to enable the MPH box in the DIC. But Google Maps, in some implementations, provides speed limit information. For example, on smart phones, where, clearly, it is not employing Traffic Sign Recognition. So, Google Maps in the Equinox EV could, by this reasoning, have been programmed to display speed limit information in a model without Traffic Sign Recognition. My query was based on this line of thought. But, apparently, a decision was made by GM or Google or both to not include this for the in-car map display. It would, indeed, be redundant for cars equipped with Traffic Sign Recognition. It would not be redundant for cars without Traffic Sign Recognition.

I know with my version of Android Auto (on my phone), Google Maps does not show speed limits unless I enter a route plan. Then they show up for the entire route. I haven't taken delivery of my EQEV yet, but can you see speed limits if you enter a route plan into your Android Automotive system built into the EQEV?

My car seems to show only speed limit info from the camera not on the map itself. I'd prefer the map because the camera misreads* limits and doesn't understand things like town-wide rules when speeds aren't marked.

Spray painted 30 mph sign is read as 80. State route 10 signs are sometimes seen as speed limit signs. I'd prefer the car to use us the GPS and maps for this. Can that be done?

Great that clearing the cache has been the fix for many of you.

When I had this issue, Google maps also was not functioning. Initially I DIY tried everything. Clearing the cache. Factory reset. Even disconnecting the 12 volt battery. No success. But eventually I noticed that the green OnStar light up on the rear view mirror console instead was red.

Checking the MyChevrolet app on my phone, I discovered it was registering faults with the OnStar system. Both the app and the email that OnStar sent me with the fault diagnostic codes told me to go to a dealership. From other posts on the forum, often it is the telematic module that has failed. For my car, the service department said that just reprogramming the unit worked. All has been good for the last 2 months.
