@Ctriopelle You can see the version of the radio by going to System -> About and look under "Build number." Right now I have mine in for service and I told them to update the radio. The old version info I had before I dropped it off was:
Code:
Android security patch level
January 5, 2024

Kernel version
5.4.233-qgki-08056-glcbla8ef790f-dirty
#1 Tue Apr 2 22:52:05 EDT 2024

Build number
burmese_orange-user 12 W41E-174.5.1-M170-SQBR5-189.3 189 release-keys
I believe the build number will change to something different/higher numbers after the update.

Maybe other folks can chime in with what your versions show, if they are different from mine.

Yep. That’s exactly what mine says currently. Still really hoping someone can show me what it’s supposed to say after a successful update. Until then I don’t have anything to point to at a dealership.

I had the update, saw nothing different in the Update area or history.

OK. This is in direct conflict with what was previously reported, where it was stated that a USB update should show a .MNF file in the updates.
I did not look for any file at the time, just for an update date and/or new version number of some kind. My car is 2000 miles away so won't be going out to look for one any time soon. :)

I don't know if they INSTALLED the USB update... if one is required and usually updating the radio it does... they need to put the latest software build for the radio on a USB to install in the vehicle and in settings under update history it will show a .MNF file.

Here is a photo from a Lyriq that gives an idea:

I did find this in another thread about updates, and was specific to the radio update, which my dealer has failed to complete 2 times now. The gross incompetencies of the dealer service departments is appalling and the only way to fight it is direct evidence of what they need to do. Just telling them “a guy on the internet told me about it” isn’t going to cut it. Thanks to the member that posted this actual photo of what it’s supposed to be.

Gross incompetency is absolutely correct... The dealership still has my car from this morning and the service advisor is not responsive.

I am led to believe that the version numbers on the About screen should change after a successful radio update because of this bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11012889-0001.pdf
which references version W52E-176.1.2-M170-SQBR5-250.2 which seems to correspond to the "build number" field. Will have to see if anyone can confirm this in practice though.

The dealership was also insisting that they don't do any kind of programming unless there's an actual concern, even after I told them about the TSB. And the service advisor refused to even note down the TSB number for the technician, only allowed me to specify a concern (I kind of made one up by saying that the maps connection was having issues) and let them diagnose it on their own.

Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted on what happens, when/if I ever get the vehicle back.

We had the #24-NA-143: Software Update done last week and they're not showing in history on the infotainment screen

Mine tried that and I pointed to the TSB text b1keridingpinko outlined in red above and they relented.

I'm just confused because surely there has been an update to the Android system since January 2024?

January 2024 is just the date for the Android security patch. Most likely this is part of the process that can only be done over USB. It's separate from the OTA updates from GM.
I just wish Android made it more straight forward and consistent to know what updates have been applied, etc. I don't even know what version of Android Auto (for GM) we're on.

This is exactly what the concern is. Either they are applying it and in some/several cases it isn’t sticking or they are saying it’s done and it isn’t. Or for whatever reason it doesn’t show up. Personally I’m leaning towards they just didn’t do it most of the time because they all seem quite bothered about this when we even ask. “Is there anything wrong?” Well, it drives ok. But half the stuff I paid a 20k premium for because it seemed cool or helpful only works half the time so yes there’s something wrong. And a lot of it is tech related. Which seems highly likely to best be fixed via the software.

So when they ask, say, "yes, half the stuff I paid a 20k premium for because it seemed cool or helpful only works half the time"

Finally received the vehicle back today from the dealer, and there is good news to share.

The tech figured out that I wanted a vehicle-wide programming done. Seems like that is what they did, looking at the notes of each module updated. And they updated the radio as well.

The "Updates and History" screen shows "85783388.mnf" installed yesterday.

And the "About" screen shows now

So I am a happy camper now.

@Ctriopelle any luck on your end? I would recommend printing out and showing them https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11012889-0001.pdf if your versions do not match what I have posted here.
