Waze voice directions not working?

When I use Waze on the infotainment center in my 2024 Equinox EV, I don’t get the voice directions. The sound is set to on in the Waze options. Volume is turned up in the car. But there’s no voice or other sounds. Any ideas how to get the sound/voice directions to work?

This can be tricky. The infotainment system has a separate volume level for everything... The radio, your phone, built in apps, and Waze. The Waze volume can only be adjusted while Waze is speaking. So if the Waze volume happens to be set on zero, you won't hear anything. You need to try and adjust the volume upward when you think Waze is talking.

Another issue is you have to make sure your phone is connected to the car, blue tooth or USB, and it has to be selected as the device of choice. Plugging in the USB cable usually helps with this.

If course, make sure you have Waze set to give you auditory directions and that you didn't have the volume within Waze turned off.

Good luck. It will work. You just don't have your settings right.

Why would it matter if my phone is connected (it is)? I installed Waze directly onto the EQEV infotainment system from the Google play store. So I’m using the one in the infotainment system and that’s where I’m not getting the voice directions. And the setting is “sound on.”

if I’m using Waze on my phone, yes I hear the directions through the car stereo. But when using directly in the infotainment, no voice.

Waze has a separate volume control in the app settings. Here's the really dumb thing, it shares some of the settings between the car and the phone without the ability to change them in the car (at least the last time I used it which was quite some time ago.) You have to jump through hoops of starting and stopping the apps in the right order to get the settings to transfer.

I would make sure that guidance volume is on on your phone and turned up. Then I would log out of the app and log back in on the car and try it again.

My Waze phone app has had voice enabled and the guidance volume turned all the way up, all along.

Could you provide a little more detail as to the steps you are suggesting?

What if I logged out of Waze on my phone and stayed logged out. Logged in on Equinox only...??
