Just looking for any creative solutions to cell phone placement and if there's any gadgets that can be mounted to hold the phone. Where do you put it? I've got mine in the second cupholder. I wish I could put it down below or even on the dash, but that's far away from the plug. I have a 2024 equinox Ev

I don't usually need to see the phone while driving. I just keep it in the slot next to the cup holder. But sometimes in the cup holder too. I also have an organizer with a slot for a phone in between the seat cushion and the center console.

When I have to see the phone screen. I just use a generic phone holder with a suction mounted on the window behind the rearview mirror. The phone can be placed right below the rear view mirror.

There's no good place to mount the phone, especially if you have a need to keep the road ahead in view while glancing at the phone now and then. I therefore fashioned my own phone holder from a couple of lengths of finished 1X1. To that rig I glued on a magnetic phone holder.

Since I use my phone for bluetooth only I put it in the upper center console storage bin right above where the non-operational wireless charger is located. This location is heated/cooled by an HVAC vent.

They sell longer USB C cables that can reach the lower cubby for less than $10, or you could hide it in the center console, or in the upper cubby like others have mentioned. Using right angle USB connectors will help tidy things up as well. There is an indentation leading to the center so the cable doesn't get picked. So lots of easy and inexpensive options.

I tuck my phone away in the upper cubby and lay it on top of my coin holder, sanitizer, UV protectant lotion and sunglasses. That way you don't bend the USB input to my phone. I also have my USB drive with my downloaded music in the center console to keep me rocking as i cruise down the road.

As @Spinkick said, GM hopes you use the Google integration and not need to use/view your cell phones especially while driving.

My EqEV didn't come with wireless charging where the charger should be so I dropped in a cheap Qi charger that had a rubberized surface so my phone won't slip.

Because I need to check what bank of chargers may be open every day before I get to work, and the Blink charging app isn’t supported on our google integration (grrr). I have mine mounted on the passenger side center dash vent just above the console. It’s on a MagSafe holder that solidly hooks to the vent louver so it’s out of my view of all the controls and is quite robust. Keeps both cupholders open and also lets be store my sunglasses in the long slot beside me when driving.

Another consideration for this thread:
Several weeks ago my telematric module failed. Onstar gave me the failure codes for presenting at my service appointment. Happens that just tomorrow I have an appointment with my Chevrolet dealer to fully investigate.

With this failure, GPS integration with maps does not work. However, phone and text messaging is still good.

That happened about a month ago. So in the interim I have been using only my cell phone for navigation. Unfortunately because GM has not allowed the Apple or Android car apps, we can not cast our phone's maps app to the infotainment screen.

The phone on a cup holder device is just perfect as a phone standalone alternative. Because we have the high center console the cup holder solution is very convenient.

Continuing on, my car automatically Bluetooth connects to my phone whenever I get in. That causes the phone to have priority for calls and texts. But leaves the phone unable to fully utilize its native maps. In particular, voice navigation is dead. I found I needed to disconnect from the the phone from the car to realize all the map features. And I also download offline maps for my area. Another workaround is to use an older phone that you still might have around that no longer has an active SIM card. Download offline maps to it and if it's GPS is fine, you are good to go!

I'm getting one of these.
And these so the cord doesn't stick out to far.
I'll put the wireless charger in the cubby. When it's not needed, just keep it in the slot next to the cup holders like others said.
Need to figure out a good holder for sunglasses.

Need to figure out a good holder for sunglasses.
Look up "visor clips for glasses". Found a cheapy at the Dollar Store ($1.25 store) that works for both wire-frame as well as plastic. Seems to work well. Clips on visor and doesn't prevent use of the mirror. They look similar to these:

I use my phone for all kinds of things that the Android Automotive won't do so got this mount from Amazon and am very happy with it. It should work natively with iPhones that are Magsafe but I use it on my Pixel 9 with a Peak Design case. Charging works mostly OK but gets too hot in the AZ sun sometimes. It fits perfectly and does not rattle or shift.
