The sweep of driver’s side windshield wiper ends about 4 inches away from the very substantial A pillar. In inclement weather, this creates a major blind spot. Can the sweep of the windshield be extended closer to the A pillar?

I had it "aligned" at a dealer as described in the linked thread TSB. However, it is still quite a bit from the edge. The TSB document states that ~2 inches (50mm) is the correct spacing. I need to measure it to see if mine swings all the way. What I am not sure of is whether the 2 inches is measured from the edge of the window pane or from the black-painted area on the perimeter of the window.

But, if yours is really 4 inches from the black painted line, then that is way too wide of space than mine was.

Yeah, I had it "aligned" at the dealer as well, but I don't think they did much/anything, cause it's still too far.
I think it's measured from the black pained line, but still, mine is at least 3 inches away from that.

Strangely enough, the two wiper blades are now parallel, which wasn't the case before they did something, but maybe they actually adjusted the passenger side wiper?
Not sure. I'll see if they can do something about next time I'm in, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

4" seems like it's a lot more than mine, and I am not happy about mine. However, FWIW, last week I spent a good deal of time in my sister's RAV4 Prime and her driver's side wiper does the same, approximately 2" thing. Where she lives, though she probably won't really care. It rains a lot but hardly ever snows.

I adjusted the driver’s side wiper arm myself. When getting the tires rotated at the dealership, I asked them to check to see if I aligned it properly and they said it was fine. The top of the wiper blade reaches 1 inch off the edge of the glass after I adjusted it.

I didn’t take any pictures, but it’s fairly straightforward.

Leave the wipers in the “parked” position before starting the process.

There’s a plastic cover over the nut that holds the wiper arm to the wiper shaft. A small screwdriver can be used to pop off the cover. Be gentle taking it off so you don’t break the little tabs on the cover.

With the cover off, use a socket to unscrew the nut. I don’t recall the size of the nut, but I think it’s in the 14mm range. Don’t remove the nut just yet, but loosen it just enough to stop the arm from popping off uncontrollably when you go to the next step.

I used a mini gear puller that I bought at Harbor Freight a few years ago. Position the puller arm shaft on the top of the wiper arm shaft and position the puller arms under the wiper arm. Turn the puller arm shaft with a socket wrench/box wrench and the arm should pop up on the shaft in a couple of turns. Remove the nut and then lift off the arm.

Once the arm is free, reposition the arm a few splines clockwise on the shaft. Be sure not to turn the shaft while doing this. Once repositioned, put the nut holding the wiper arm in place. Don’t make it tight, but just snug it down. Pop the cover back over the nut.

Test it out and readjust as necessary. It might take a few tries until you position it correctly, but it’s fairly easy to reposition it. Protect the hood with a rag when performing this as there’s not much space to work in.
